Super Mario Galaxy Film Teaser Debuts, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors

Nintendo alongside Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. This occurred during a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.

The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the outer limits of the galaxy. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.

An Interstellar Journey Based on Iconic Releases

In the vein of the Wii console classics that provide its foundation, Mario will depart from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.

Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently commands metallic abilities. Interestingly, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow

The film will see the return of the initial voice actors, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

Mario's Major Moment

Mario's latest cinematic adventure is scheduled to arrive close to the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his friends.

The company has three new games already confirmed for the upcoming year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Premiere Date Announced

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
