NFL Roundup: Broncos Narrowly Beat Struggling Jets in Low-Scoring Affair
During a low-scoring contest on Sunday, the Broncos managed to secure a 13-11 win over the winless New York Jets. Signal-caller Bo Nix threw an early touchdown pass and kicker Wil Lutz provided the game-winning go-ahead field goal to seal the hard-fought win.
Dominant Display Wins Contest
Even with recording nine sacks versus Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 following conceding a safety in the second half. Interestingly, the Jets managed just 82 offensive yards during the entire game.
The Denver quarterback, who completed 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, engineered a critical 12-play, 65-yard possession that culminated in Lutz's 27-yard field goal with approximately five minutes left.
Historic Struggles for Jets Attack
In spite of their dismal performance, the Jets maintained possession with a opportunity to drive for a possible winning score. But Fields was sacked on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 after head coach Aaron Glenn chose to attempt the conversion rather than sending out specialist Nick Folk for a difficult field-goal attempt.
Fields struggled throughout, connecting on just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. New York ended up with minus-10 passing yards, the lowest in any game since 1998.
"Our passing game was completely absent," Glenn commented after the contest.
